I’m busy with some Real Life stuff, but all is well – I’m just generally busy and stressed. Anxiety has been a major issue too, but I’m doing my utmost to maintain this site and my other accounts.
Speaking of, I have some minor but exciting news: I finally became eligible for a YouTube custom URL!! Which means that instead of a long series of letters and numbers, I can direct people to youtube.com/c/JulianJaymes ! SUPER excited about that. This is all because I hit 100 subscribers. 100 people!! 100 people wanted to see my videos?! Whaaaat?! Weird. Thank you to every single one!!
My YouTube, by the way, is primarily about three things: Tarot, art, and journaling. My current top video is my first video showing my grimoire – it has over 2500 views, which is crazy to me. It’s not even that good a video, I want to say, but if people like it and maybe got inspired, then it’s all good. 🙂 I’m working on a new grimoire, though, so I’m excited to share that soon too. I’m doing more planning this time, and Im hopeful that it will turn out well.
I’ve been working a looooot on Traveler’s Notebook stuff, primarily filming videos on the TN system and making TN’s and inserts for them. And the new grimoire I’m making is in a TN too! I’m working on making more for sale, but until now, here’s the one I have listed: https://www.etsy.com/listing/559584096/black-leather-extra-wide-travelers?ref=shop_home_feat_1
Thank you so, so much to everyone who’s subscribed to my YouTube recently, and to the people who subscribed ages ago too…I’m really excited to share more with you, so please stay tuned!
Hey y’all! It’s Julian!
After much deliberation and consulting with my experts, I have concluded that weekly posting would be the most manageable option for my website right now. When I started this homepage, I had dreamed of posting every day; now, however, the thought of coming up with topics, images, and content for daily posts overwhelms and exhausts me. I just have too much going on to do that right now. Maybe I can work my way up to it.
But for right now, there will be a new post here on julianjaymes.com every Monday.
This week’s news is as follows…
- Travelers Notebooks: I’ve made a new one, and it is now available in my Etsy shop! It’s black leather and the inserts and elastics are all themed around the concept of “galaxy.” A second one in the same colors is coming soon. Click here to view it: https://www.etsy.com/listing/559584096/black-leather-extra-wide-travelers?ref=shop_home_feat_1
- Next comic: Yes, it’s coming. And it is going to be HELLA fun.
- BROTATO: this was a one-off joke piece for a friend, and has turned into a meme amongst my IRL social circle. My friend C was at work and his co-worker told him “good job, brotato!” He just about dies laughing every time he tells this story, because he thinks “brotato” is the most ridiculous nickname. However, he now has a ~beautiful~ image of a Brotato…
Friend M says I should do a entire webcomic about anthropomorphic foodstuffs. Personally, I have almost zero interest in webcomics about anthropomorphic foodstuffs, but I have to admit, Brotato is pretty damn chill. B)
Thanks to everyone who’s been supporting me thus far. Stay tuned for more!
I’ve finally learned to record speedpaints – time-lapse films of me drawing! Enjoy this one of the Millennial Mystic Tarot’s Emperor card, along with a lot of rambling about the project.
Huge thanks to everyone who’s been so supportive of this project. Means a lot to me. 🙂
I have so many pages on this website that are NOT up to date, hah.
I’m still trying to figure out a way to schedule posting here and elsewhere on the internet. I’m not on social media or even the computer nearly as much as I used to be, so it’s not like I’m on every day and can do a daily post or even work on it daily.
However, I do intend to post here weekly, and I post daily or almost daily on Instagram. (Which is now, by the way, in the sidebar on this site!)
Thank you to everyone who’s been supporting me so far. 🙂 I’m really happy to be working on what I’m working on, and I’ll tell you more about the Secret Project as soon as I can. Also incoming: more videos, more reviews, and more content in general!! #w00t
Yes, I’m finally making a page for my upcoming Tarot deck – and I’ve named it!
“Millennial Mystic” started out as a joke name for this Tarot deck, a comment on how I was embracing millennial styles and attitudes for the illustrations. I was also tuning into the magic and mysticism of millennial spirituality.
But after some discussion (partly in a YouTube video comment of all things!), I realized that young people around my age might actually really connect with a millennial-magic-themed deck. I started to take it seriously, and to embrace the style I was already heading for.
Bring on the man-buns, anime eyes, and endless Himalayan salt lamps. We’re entering the world of Millennial Mysticism and exploring it through the imagery of the Tarot.
This is gonna be a long-term project (it’s taken me week just to put together a few cards), but I am confident that it will be a good one. 🙂 Stay tuned for updates about the project – and, when the time comes, how to pre-order!
